History:

After defeating the dread pirate Cervantes and saving the life of Sophitia, Taki returned home. Where her master and foster father, Toki sent her to hunt down Hachibei and his daughter Chie. She quickly found her childhood friend and her father. There Hachibei gave her the Mekiki-Maru, the object that Toki wanted so badly. She returned and reported that Hachibei and Chie were dead and that a Chinese man stole the Mekki-maru. Still possessing a shard of the Soul Edge Taki tried to fuse it with her cracked Rekki-maru. The two wouldn't join so she tried the Mekki-maru and the two fused together. The sword began to shed a dark aura so powerful that even common people could sense it.

She was captured by Toki's right hand man Geki. He was about kill Taki when he unsheathed the Mekki-maru. However when he did so his arm was blown off by the dark shock wave that came from the sword. Taki quickly grabbed the sword and disappeared into the bamboo forest.  Now a nuke-nin Taki was being hunted by her own clan. She traveled west when the rumor of the berserker bearing the new evil sword reached Japan. Taki realized that the evil sword must be the remaining Soul Edge, because her Rekki-maru still resonated like before. Taki planned to have the two evil swords, Soul Edge and Mekki-maru, battle each other to offset their evil powers.

Story:

After defeating Inferno, Taki returned home to Japan. She still knew that Toki was still after her, but she had defeated all of the assassins he had sent so far. One evening she came across some hot spring and stopped to bathe. Hiding the Mekki-maru she allowed herself a moment to relax. Her relaxation was short lived as Toki's men attacked. With her Rekki-maru she defeated all of the attackers. She returned to the spot where she hid the Mekki-maru and found it missing.  She looked around for the sword until she saw on a distant hill a man walking with what appeared to be the Mekki-maru.

Even though she was injured in the battle, she tracked the man to a small village. Fortunately her childhood friend Chie and her husband lived in the same village. She was able to rest and tend to her wounds. However Toki's men soon arrived searching for the man and the Mekki-maru. Trying to beat the assassins to the Mekki-maru the not quite 100% Taki rushed to the Tavern where the man was staying. There another battle ensued. During the fight the man escaped into the dark of night.  It was soon after that she learned the name of the stranger, Dre Alexander.

She pursued him to Tokyo, where she came within inches of the Mekki-maru. But a confrontation with a monster named Nakuma allowed Dre to slip from her grasp once again.  Taki then tracked him across the ocean to America. Finding his apartment in Los Angeles. She was able to confront Dre, however that attempt was foiled when Dre's girlfriend, Sandra tried to shoot her but hit Dre instead.

Determined to recover the Mekki-maru, Taki entered a martial arts tournament. The same one Sandra was also in. Taki's hopes of confronting Dre were spoiled when Toki learned of Taki's involvement and sent assassins to Los Angeles. Taki once again had to battle against her clan. And once again Dre escaped.

After fending off another attack by her clan she completely lost track of Dre Alexander. Taki wandered around the west coast hoping to find the trail and avoid any more assassins. After a year she came across a newspaper article on Dre and the incident in India. The most important part to her was where he lived, Anime Island.

Taki Tracked Dre to the Island. There she joined the UCTF in order to track down her sword. It was when Dre was killed by Leona that things got interesting. With Dre dead and no sign of the sword in his belongings Taki began to suspect that Leona may have taken it.

However, Taki had a new problem. A soul stealing demon appeared on the island. The demon was Xamot. The one defeated by her Great, great, great, great, grand father. With every soul he stole the stronger he became. She knew she had to stop him. So her search for the Mekki-maru intensified. Taki found what she was looking for, Leona's apartment. She knew that her sword was there. But when she got there she found more than just the sword. She found Xamot in the process of stealing Leona's soul.
